Sides

Fried Cheese Bites (X)

these cool off fast, so me and my girlfriend just stand by the stove and eat the ones that aren't burning hot enough as we go. I reconcile with the fact that this kind of thing is a side, though I eat it as the main course when I make it.

Main Courses

Crispy Belgian Waffles (X)

are waffles a main course? I consider the protein I have with it the side when it's waffle night, so I don't know. unlike a lot of meal recipes I find, this doesn't assume you are feeding a family of four, so there's no waste when I cook for just me and my girlfriend.

Cast Iron Chicken Breast (X)

I bought a cast iron skillet for the steak bowl farther down and this was one of the recipes I found to make more use of it. chicken is one of the few major sources of protein I can eat, so I need a lot of ways to cook it if I don't want to get sick of it.

Garlic Butter Pasta (X)

there are similar Italian dishes that use olive oil instead of butter, but I don't like parmesan cheese and the sauce doesn't thicken without it if you don't use butter. this is a comfort dish when I feel sick, though it dirties a lot of dishes.

Lemon Pepper Chicken Breast (X)

my girlfriend started making this back when she got sick of the very simple seasoning I was most comfortable with on chicken. turns out that lemon on meat tastes really fuckin good.

One Pan Spanish Chicken and Rice (X)

this was the first more complicated recipe I made on my own... and by "more complicated," I mean it wasn't just seasoning something and putting it in the oven. I use green onions for garnish instead of cilantro or parsley.

Steak Bowl (X)

I don't eat the salsa that you're meant to make with this, but my girlfriend does, so she has that while I eat crescent rolls.

Desserts

Cake Mix Cookies (X)

whenever I don't feel like putting a lot of effort into a new recipe, I use this recipe to mix some variation of topping and cake mix into a cookie. my favorite so far is a red velvet cookie with the frosting from the cream cheese sugar cookies lower down on this page.

Chocolate Buttermilk Pie (X)

this is my signature dessert, if I'm bringing food for a meal somewhere I'm bringing this. it tastes like a chocolate lava cake from Domino's and has the perfect texture.

Chocolate Snickerdoodles (X)

I made these as a gift to two of my friends who are roommates as a Christmas gift one year, combining their favorite cookies, and then made them for me and my girlfriend shortly after because they were delicious.

Cream Cheese Sugar Cookies (X)

my sister made these back when I was early in my recovery from ARFID, constantly hungry and eating food I didn't like much, and they gave me actual euphoria. they obviously don't hit as hard as they did the first time, you kinda have to be at rock bottom for good food to make you feel high, but they are still really tasty and not overpoweringly sweet.

Graham Cracker Crust (X)

not so much a dessert on its own but it's the graham cracker crust I use for any pie that calls for one. I always use dark brown sugar when I make it.

Nutella Cookie Cake (X)

if you're going to refridgerate this and have it one slice at a time, cut it before it goes into the fridge for the first time or else it will be as hard as a rock. perfect with a few scoops of vanilla ice cream.

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies (X)

I don't have a cookie scoop, something this recipe won't work without, so I just use a regular ice cream scoop, flatten the balls a little bit once they're rolled, and bake for a couple extra minutes.

Peanut Butter Cookies (X)

one of the first things I made myself when I wanted something sweet as I only just started recovering from ARFID was three ingredient peanut butter cookies. those sucked, but these are good.
